Call for Nominations to the RCRA Board of Directors
 
Resort and Commercial Recreation Association (RCRA) is seeking dedicated members who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors. RCRA’s board of directors consists of nine members: President Elect, President, Past President, Secretary, Treasurer and four Directors at Large.
 
Positions that are up for election this fall include:
  • One President Elect (3 year term)
  • One Treasurer (2 year term)
  • Two Directors at Large (2 year terms)
 
Each nominee must be in good standing within the profession and Association, be self‐motivated and result oriented. Candidates must also be able to commit to monthly conference calls. Recommended, but not required: Having attended the National Conference a minimum of one of the last three years and actively contribute to the work of a RCRA committee.
 
Completed nominating materials are due: Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
 
Candidates will then be announced to the membership mid-September. Voting will take place at the 37th Annual National Conference held at Sunriver Resort, Sunriver, OR.   Members that are unable to attend the National Conference will have the ability to vote online. Details regarding online voting will be sent out in the fall.
 
Desirable Qualities
There are many single qualities that would be beneficial in new Board members. It is not expected that any applicant will possess all of these qualities; please highlight the one or two that you excel in.
 
  • Leadership
  • Fundraising
  • Organized
  • Communications, public relations, or marketing
  • Building membership
  • Campaigning and organizing
  • Building partnerships
  • Web design or graphic design
  • Strategic financial planning
  • Familiarity with RCRA and its history
 
Expectations of Board Members
  1. Time commitment of at least 8 hours per month
  2. Promote RCRA to contacts, including professional contacts, vendors, students and educators
  3. Be an active member
  4. Encourage others to become active members
  5. Share your expertise
  6. Participate in monthly Board telephone calls, with no more than three absences per year
  7. Required to attend the Post Conference Board meeting the Wednesday after the National Conference if elected
  8. Attend mid-year board meeting for 3 days at the end of April
  9. Read materials in advance of meetings and be prepared to participate
  10. Observe confidentiality of personal information about Board members, staff, clients, and members
 
How to Apply?
Three things to do:
 
  1. Submit a one-paragraph biography
  2. Submit a second paragraph that answers the following questions, keeping each answer short and concise.
  1. Relevant Experience. Please list any experience, education, or employment that may be relevant to serving on the RCRA Board of Directors.
  2. Interest. Why are you interested in RCRA and serving on the Board?
  3. Contribution. What contribution do you feel you can make? What one or two desirable qualities (those listed above or other qualities) will you bring to the organization?
  1. Please send a “head shot” picture in .jpg format (please do not send in a WORD document)
